ServicesGutter Clearing

Gutter Clearing in Latham, NY

Clogged gutters spill water against your siding and foundation and feed ice along the roofline in winter. We scoop them out by hand, flush the downspouts, bag the debris and send you photos, and the person you talk to first stays with the job until it is done.

Getting rainwater off your roof the way it should

A gutter does its job only when water travels its full length and falls through an open downspout. Leaves, grit from shingles and seed pods break down into a soggy layer that traps water, loads the hangers and finally spills over the outer edge. That spillover streaks siding, rots fascia boards and collects next to the foundation.

We clear out that buildup and make sure water really flows. One contact covers the whole visit: whoever quotes your job also books the crew, takes your questions on the day and goes over the photos with you afterward.

What a visit to clear your gutters includes

Hand-cleared troughs

We scoop debris out by hand along every run instead of blasting it onto your roof or lawn. It goes into bags, not your flower beds.

Downspout flushing

We run water through each downspout to confirm it drains. If one is packed, we work the clog loose from the top or bottom.

A look at hangers and seams

While we are up there, we note loose hangers, sagging sections, leaking seams and spots where the gutter pulls away from the fascia. You hear about it with photos, plainly, so you can decide what to do.

Care around roofline lighting

If you have permanent lighting along your gutters, we work around the track and clips so nothing gets knocked loose.

Cleanup before we leave

We pick up fallen debris from walkways, the driveway and beds below the gutters and haul the bags away.

How to tell your gutters need clearing

  • Water spilling over the edge

If heavy rain sheets over the outside lip instead of flowing to the downspout, something is blocking that stretch.

  • Plants growing in the gutter

Seedlings, grass or moss rising out of the gutter mean old leaves have turned to soil that stays wet.

  • Dips and gaps at the fascia

Soaked debris weighs a lot. A run that sags between hangers is usually holding more than it was built for.

  • Streaks running down the siding

Dark lines under the gutter tend to mark a spot where water keeps overflowing.

  • Ice building along the eaves

During Capital Region winters, blocked gutters trap snowmelt that freezes again at the roof edge. A late-fall clearing lets that water drain away.

How your visit goes

  1. 1

    You call, we listen

Tell us about your house, how many stories it has and roughly when the gutters were last cleared. You get a free quote and a name to ask for.

  2. 2

We set a day that suits you

Your contact books the visit and gives you a heads-up when the crew is heading over. Feel free to be at work or out running errands; all the crew needs is clear access around the house and a working outdoor spigot.

  3. 3

    Clearing and flushing

The crew sets ladders carefully, protects the gutter edge, clears each run by hand and flushes every downspout.

  4. 4

    Photos and a walk-through

We send before-and-after photos, point out anything that looked worn or loose and pick up the yard before we go.

What changes the cost of a gutter visit

We price from your actual house. Before anyone climbs a ladder you get a single figure and a plain account of how we reached it, so the day holds no surprises.

Number of stories
Reaching the gutters on a two- or three-story home takes longer ladders and more setup than a single-story ranch.
Feet of gutter
Longer runs and extra downspouts add time for both clearing and flushing.
How much has built up
Gutters cleared yearly move fast. Ones left for several seasons often hold packed debris with roots growing through it.
Guards, roof slope and access
Guards need to come off and go back on, and steep roofs, decks or narrow side yards make placing ladders slower.

What neighbors ask us about their gutters

What time of year is best for a gutter visit?

Late fall, once the trees around your house are bare, catches the biggest load of leaves before freezing weather sets in. A spring visit is worth adding if maple seeds and catkins pile up in your troughs. Homes tucked under tall trees sometimes need a third pass, and we will tell you straight if yours does not.

Can you clear gutters that already have guards?

We can. The guards come up, we clean out the grit and leaf bits trapped beneath and in the mesh, and then we fasten them back down. Guards slow debris down, but fine material still finds its way in over time.

Will gutter work disturb the permanent lighting on my roofline?

We keep ladders and hands clear of the light track and clips while we work. If you are considering lights of your own, our permanent exterior lighting installation includes a 10-year product warranty, and freshly cleared gutters make for a tidier mounting surface.

What if you spot damage while you are up there?

You get photos and a plain explanation, such as a hanger that has worked loose, a seam that drips or a run separating from the fascia. Nothing gets added to your bill without your say. The decision on what to do next is yours.

How long has your company been around?

We have been in business 5 years, working in Latham and nearby towns such as Colonie, Loudonville and Cohoes. You keep the same contact from one visit to the next, so you never have to explain your house twice.
